Enhance inclusivity of parks and trails in beautiful British Columbia.
We believe everyone should have equal access to parks and trails and are committed to making that a reality. Join us on this inspiring journey as we work towards increasing access and inclusion.
We are an equity led, enterprizing non-profit organization. Our goal as the Inclusive By Design Association is to construct accessible and inclusive outdoor infrastructure, regardless of age, identity, and ability.
We dedicate ourselves to enhancing park-goers' comfort, participation, and self-assurance by making essential facilities inclusive and accommodating to all. We seek to foster community and belonging and strive to have spaces that are usable by people of all ages and ability with dignity and ease.
To accomplish this, we are led by and for individuals that identify as living with a disability and relying on our core values, which are as follows:
About Us
Universal Design
The design and composition of an environment that is accessible, understood, and useable to the greatest extent possible by all people, regardless of age, size, identity, ability, or disability.
Principles of Physical Literacy Enriched Environmental Design
Create a level of challenge for all levels of ability and interest. Promote inclusion and accessibility, as well as a meaningful intersection of culture, ages, abilities, and interests.
Inclusive By Design is led by and for individuals with a disability. We believe in being true to our core values and providing the best for everyone. We are proud to be on the right track with the addition of accessible boardwalks, bridges, viewing platforms, outhouses, picnic tables, benches, and improvements to overall park and trail design!
